UKRAINE’S CHALLENGES, POLISH EXPERIENCE The forthcoming EU pre-accession negotiations by Ukraine will be a monumental task for the Ukrainian government machinery and business, not least considering potential impact of such negotiations on terms of business relations between Ukraine and the rest of the EU. The panel will discuss the approach of the Ukrainian government to preparing pre-accession negotiations, the position of Ukrainian business and Polish experience.

PANEL: TRADE, LOGISTICS, AND THE BORDER: AVOIDING FRICTIONS, FINDING SOLUTIONS Trade in agriculture and steel are the first litmus tests for how Ukrainian trade will be received in the EU market. So far, the experience has been disappointing, leading to temporary import bans, while existing border infrastructure and procedures remain inadequate. The panel will discuss the current state of affairs and motifs of the parties involved, and will focus on streamlining customs and transit procedures within and outside of the EU, investments in border and transport infrastructure, as well as improving trading practices as key factors to facilitate trade in the medium and long term.

As the war drives Ukrainian companies to relocate, expand and integrate in European supply chains, a range of regulatory challenges prevent them from realising their full potential and generating interest from their European, particularly Polish counterparts. Such challenges include lack of harmonisation of technical standards for industrial goods. This panel will explore potential regulatory solutions, such as the conclusion of the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance for industrial products (ACAA) and present promising cases of Polish-Ukrainian industrial synergies.
